Hana Dubaj
About me
My name is Hana Dubaj and I was born on October 11, 1963 in Karviná – Ráj (Czech Republic). I have no brothers and sisters. I have liked painting since I was a child. I have not attended any arts club. I was attending only the Liduška (Folk School of Musical Art), where I was learning to play the clarinet. After the ending of Primary School I started to attend the High Agricultural Technical School in Český Těšín. When I passed a graduation exam I moved at the agricultural area in Osoblažsko where I was working as a livestock specialist for 18 years. There was the area forgotten by God and humans and it still is in Osoblažsko.
I got married and gave birth to two children and I started to work with my husband at our family house. Then I restored my hobbies and I started to draw by a pencil, then I drew portraits of children by pastels and I painted the horse by oil paints for the first time. Since that time I tried many various techniques and I experimented with various combinations of materials. I learnt to make bobbin lace and now I teach this technique, which was a livelihood in Osoblažsko 200 years and more ago. I learnt all the techniques (except the making bobbin lace) alone.
During these years I participated in some competitions of Art which I was placed in. I made the front-page for the Wandering passport of Jeseník, I participated at drawing a map for the Euroregion Praděd, I hosted some exhibitions in Ostrava and I showed my works in Prudnik (Poland), Krnov, Město Albrechtice and also in Slezské Rudoltice where I host exhibitions with authorial jewelry.
I am a member of the non-profit organization Královský stolec which is interested in revitalisation of history and traditions in Osoblažsko and I am also one of five founders of generally beneficial company Slezské zemské dráhy which is interested in a steam locomotive and old trains on a narrow railway. I paint Jesus Kristus on metal boards and then the boards are attached to the wooden crucify. I founded my own gallery in Liptaň called Ateliér Drak.
Under the terms of Královský stolec I lead courses of making bobbin lace, knitting handbaskets, making little men from dried corn leafs, etc.
I used to work as a teacher of arts at the Primary School and as a pedagogue of free time as well.
